How I work - Therapies offered

Working integratively is about finding the right balance in the various approaches for you as an individual and for your needs rather than maintaining a rigid approach which may or may not resonate. Ultimately, as a therapist, my goal is for clients to gain the most out of our work together. I have learnt that our individuality and the differing challenges of our lives and how we respond to them calls for a more flexible approach to therapy.

is a client centred, holistic approach. Client centred – as a highly supportive therapy which focuses on the importance of the client /therapist relationship as catalyst for growth and change. Holistic – as it includes all aspects of the human experience and works with the client’s unique experience as reference point. It rests upon the belief in the individual’s inherent ability to developing their own potential, towards self empowerment and taking charge of shaping their own lives.

looks at unconscious processes that may be occurring for the client. It focuses on helping the client explore thoughts, feelings, belief systems and early experiences and as such, to gain insight into how they may be informing their present.Through insight, we are then increasingly able to recognise, understand and evaluate patterns or coping strategies that we may have developed during our lives and look towards taking steps to change those patterns.

views our thoughts, feelings and behaviours as being interconnected. It centres on working with the client to help identify underlying factors by looking at unhelpful or inaccurate thoughts that may fuel destructive or problematic behaviours which in turn lead to the client’s emotional distress. Client and therapist work together in challenging and testing existing beliefs to create alternative and more helpful behaviours and emotional responses to situations and feelings.
